Design for Disassembly (DfD) is a strategy for designing and building by considering materials as part of a circular economy and what happens to the products installed in a building, the repair and replacement of them during their lifetime, including ongoing maintenance and renovations , as well as during the decommissioning of the building.

DfD is a critical component of the Circular Economy, where waste from one process is food for another process having in its principles all building components, including structural elements, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as finishing elements and furniture.
