2025-2028 IDIBC STRATEGIC PLAN

The 2025-2028 IDIBC Strategic Plan builds on foundational work undertaken in recent years to advance IDIBC’s previous strategic priorities, including:

  • Initiating a process to enact interior design legislation by formally requesting that the provincial government designate RIDs and the interior design profession under the Professional Governance Act (PGA)
  • Clearly defining pathways to becoming a RID for individuals from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds
  • Increasing public and registrant communications on roles, qualifications, and professional expectations of RIDs and on IDIBC’s regulatory mandate
  • Furthering the complaints and disciplinary process and publishing related guidelines expanding continuing education on IDIBC’s policies, practice standards, and the PGA process
  • Completing a national review of the interior design scope of practice and regulatory activities in other jurisdictions
  • Engaging with professional interior design regulatory and credentialing bodies across Canada to promote harmonization and standardization
  • Strengthening IDIBC’s governance, policies, and operations to support it in carrying out its mandate while positioning it for a future regulatory transition

Our 2025-2028 Strategic Plan identifies three focus areas, each with key objectives and supporting initiatives. The Board will concentrate its energy and resources on achieving these priorities by aligning staff and committee efforts accordingly. While the plan outlines a clear direction, it also incorporates flexibility to remain responsive to changing context and evolving priorities.

  1. Engagement and Growth

  • Increase recognition and confidence in Registered Interior Designers as trusted, highly skilled technical professionals essential to realizing safe interior building projects.

   2.Progressive Regulation

  • Continue to implement robust professional regulation that is adaptive to an evolving building regulatory environment, industry needs, and technical advancements.

   3. Operational Excellence

  • Establish scalable and transparent operations to enable sustainable growth and maintain strong regulatory oversight during this transition phase.
