The IDIBC is a volunteer organization that depends on the support of its members to uphold its mandate to both the public and the profession. Volunteering for one of the IDI’s committees is one way to get involved:
Awards Committee
Every year, in conjunction with Design Northwest, the IDI invites entries from B.C.’s design community for the Annual Awards of Excellence. The Awards committee processes entries, arranges the panel of guest jurors and follows through with presentations to the winners at the yearly Awards of Excellence event.
Legal Committee
Concerns within the construction industry, such as changes to the building code, building permit processes and the Builders Lien Act affect the profession of Interior Design from a legal standpoint. This group ensures that Interior Designers remain on a level playing field with other professionals in the industry.
Membership
Where would the IDI be without members? Attracting new members and processing applications are the prime focus of this committee.
Newsletter Committee
Details newsletter keeps IDI members up-to-date with news within the design community from coast to coast. This committee designs, writes for and produces the newsletter.
Public Relations Committee
This committee is responsible for increasing public awareness of the IDIBC.
This committee is involved in all facets of public awareness, including
advertising, speaking for, and creating articles about the IDIBC.
Residential Committee
Not a formal committee but rather a group of residential designers who meet several times a year to address issues particular to this area of practice.
APDA
IDI is represented in this coalition of professional design associations (formerly called Design Now) working with government, business and educators to promote the value of design.
Website Committee
This committee monitors, edits, and updates this continuously changing website. The committee liaisons with the webmaster.
