IDIBC’s Top Ten List for MARCH 2016
Here are the top ten things you need to know about the interior design world in BC this month:
1. IDC Vancouver Chapter Announcement
IDIBC and IDC are excited to announce the formation of the IDC Vancouver Chapter. We are very pleased that Andrea Auchinleck and Nansi Massoud have volunteered to take on the positions of co-chairs bringing together Designers and Industry members. Andrea and Nansi have written the following statement to share their vision for the Chapter.
“A Vancouver Chapter is being established to facilitate a stronger sense of community with in the Greater Vancouver Area. Our goal is to bring the Interior Design community together! We want to establish a place for members, students, manufacturers/suppliers and the design industry to network, have fun, get to know and support each other. Throughout the year there will be social events, product knowledge opportunities, and community outreach. We will be working alongside IDIBC, NEWH, Designer Happy Hour and others in the design community willing to partner with us, to promote Vancouver’s Interior Design Community.
We are looking for Volunteers to help us plan and organize these various events throughout the year. We hope that you will choose to support our community in some way.”
Please join us for The IDIBC member’s breakfast to learn more about the Vancouver Chapter.
2. Member’s Breakfast:
The IDIBC member’s breakfast will take place on April 12th at the Coast Hotel from 7:30-9:30am. Please join us to learn more about the IDC Vancouver Chapter, what a chapter is and how it will function. There will be an opportunity to provide feedback about the Chapter and to network with designers and industry members. We are all very excited about this opportunity to grow and strengthen our community in the most inclusive way possible and are eager to share our ideas and hear yours. This event is eligible for 1 Non-IDCEC hour CEU. Click here to register.
3. IDIBC CEU audit process update - the Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Dec. 31, 2015 marked the end of BC’s first three year cycle using the new IDCEC online CEU tracking system. In keeping with IDIBC policy, the CEU Audit committee recently completed a random audit of approximately 20% of the eligible membership.
The good: Many members have readily adapted to the new CEU tracking system, which has streamlined and simplified the reporting process, once people got used to it. In fact, a considerable number of registered members logged several CEUs over and above the 30 CEU target.
The bad: Roughly speaking, only 55% of the total eligible membership achieved their prescribed number of CEUs. More specifically, only half of the audited members were compliant.
The ugly: Approximately 25% of the total eligible membership reported less than 10 CEUs. Half of these reported no CEUs. This is not acceptable for a professional organization, and so over the next year, IDIBC will investigate why the numbers are so low and propose solutions.
Next steps: all auditees will receive a letter in the next few weeks, either congratulating them on their compliance, or notifying them of the appropriate disciplinary action to follow.
For those ready to enter the CEU arena again, check the IDC calendar and IDIBC Facebook page for upcoming CEU events. IDIBC wants to hear from the membership regarding CEUs, your experience with the tracking system, questions, suggestions, etc.
4. Living Building Challenge CEU Events
