From students to registered, IDIBC welcomes new members – and getting in is a snap! To become a member, just follow the three steps below.

Step 1:

Choose the category of membership that best fits you:

Registered
Registered (previously Professional) members are members who have successfully completed the NCIDQ exam and have achieved a minimum education requirement of a 4-year bachelor degree in interior design. Starting January 1st, 2017 new applicants (including re-application of lapsed membership) for Registered membership must have successfully completed the NCIDQ exam and achieved a bachelor degree from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accredited school. Registered members are actively involved in the profession of interior design.

Mandatory building code course requirement for new RIDs starts January 1, 2019
New Registered Members will be required to have completed a 36 hour BC Building Code course as part of their admission to IDIBC. The course must be taken within a six year period prior to application for RID membership. A transcript is required as part of the admission process.

Approved courses are offered through BCIT:

  • BLDC 1500: Part 9 single Family Dwellings
  • BLDG 1825: Part 9 Multi Unit and Small Buildings
  • BLDG 1830: Part 3 Introduction - Fire Protection, Occupant Safety and Accessibility

Equivalencies will be considered by IDIBC, but it is the applicant’s responsibility to prove that the proposed course is equivalent to one of the courses above, and provide appropriate documentation.

Note:  Building code courses are eligible for non-IDCEC approved HSW CEUs.

Intern
Intern (previously Provisional) members are members who have achieved a minimum education requirement of a 4-year bachelor degree in interior design. Starting January 1st, 2017 new applicants for Intern membership must have achieved a bachelor degree from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accredited school. Intern members must be eligible to write the NCIDQ exam but may have not completed all aspects of the exam. Intern members are actively involved in the profession of interior design.
