In 2013 the Business Development Committee, consisting of IDC Industry members in BC, created a bursary to recognise deserving Interior Design student members of IDIBC.  The bursary was created to honour the life, legacy and volunteer spirit of Tom Park (May 3rd, 1946 – June 25th, 2012), a former Business Development Committee chair, IDIBC volunteer, and generous contributor to the interior design community.

A minimum of one student member of IDIBC will be awarded each year at the discretion of the IDIBC Board. The award is intended to be $1,000 per student.

The bursary shall be awarded to an eligible student nominee who best exemplifies the spirit of participation and volunteerism within the interior design profession above and beyond their curriculum requirements, making an impact on their future profession and furthering the goals of IDIBC. Grade point average or financial need are not influencing factors for this award.

The Tom Park Student Bursary is open to any full or part time student member of IDIBC in good standing, who is either a resident of B.C. for provincial tax purposes, or enrolled in a CIDA accredited four year bachelor degree of interior design program in B.C. To be eligible the nominee must be a student in a recognised interior design program in the calendar year in which they are nominated.
