Job Captain on the Design & Construction Team at A&W Food Services of Canada Inc.

Job Captain reports to Director, Design & Construction. Major responsibilities of this leadership role include:
    •  overseeing development of A&W prototypical design drawings for Free Standing (FS)
        buildings;
    •  ensuring conformance to requirements of schematic design;
    •  preparing architectural working drawings, adhering to all budgetary constraints;
    •  reviewing drawings of Project Coordinators and providing direct assistance to the Senior
        Urban Project Manager;
    •  advising on required revisions, providing general feedback, and ensuring the design intent is
        consistent and well executed;
    •  translating concept drawings to detailed drawings, and
    •  construction problem-solving, product sourcing and evaluation, document management,
        preparing and analyzing construction budgets for prototypical drawings, and developing
        recommendations for product and design innovation. 

The candidate must possess:
    •  strong AutoCAD and architectural drafting, interior design and detailing skills (millwork and
        construction);
    •  good knowledge of standard construction practices/materials;
    •  excellent problem-solving, leadership and organizational skills;
    •  a fine eye for detail;
    •  strong understanding of design trends;
    •  diplomacy and ability to positively assert;
    •  ability to lead others and meet deadlines;
    •  ability to work under pressure, with ease and accuracy;
    •  post-secondary degree/ diploma in Architecture, Architectural or Building Technology, or
        Design;
    •  at least 5 years of related technical experience.
